However, the expected sync price reduction campaign "Vietnam Impression" will end in the first quarter of 2010 also poses many challenges when the price is higher than expected before applying the campaign.
   
Golden years of domestic tourism

Vietnam's tourism industry - after a long time facing difficulties due to the drop in international visitors and infrastructure deterioration, it begins to move itself in the "Vietnam Impression" campaign.
 
After this stimulus campaign is officially applied with participation of more than 300 units across the country, the tourism industry have positive signs of recovery. In six months of the beginning of 2009, international arrivals fell 19% over the same period in 2008 but in the last 6 months, this figure is only 11%. Domestic tourism goes up 20% contributing significantly to the improvement of tourism revenue in 2009 (increase 10%, with total revenues reaching VND 68,000 billion to VND 70,000 billion).
 
According to many experts in the “smokeless industry” in 2010, with series of events held in the country, which is the focus of national tourism year 2010 towards the Thang Long-Hanoi 1000 year anniversary,  a "golden opportunity" for tourism in Vietnam. According to Nguyen Van Tuan, General Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Year 2010 was a highlight of Vietnam tourism, which is an opportunity for Vietnam's tourism to impress and have a good position on the Travel of the world. 

Hanoi is the heart of the grand celebration of 1000 year Thang Long-Hanoi with a variety of cultural events, sports will be held in the beginning of 2010 such as Flower Street Festival, the exhibition "Bat Trang Ceramics - Traditional and Modern", kite festivals ... became important role in attracting visitors from all over the world.
Alongside the grand festival year, localities across the country also hosted several programs associated with the 1000 year capital of Vietnam - Hanoi. The prominent one is international tour for mountain climbing and flag hiking "Thang Long-Hanoi is 1000 years old" on the top of Fansipan; Da Lat Flower Festival, incense ceremony commemorating the Hung King (Phu Tho) , Lam Kinh festival (Thanh Hoa); Hue Festival 2010 ...

Year 2010 was also considered as the time to create momentum for the development of tourism enterprises. Since the middle of 2009, many construction businesses and travel agencies have sold tours to explore to exploit the history of 1000 year Thang Long such as: Hanoi tour, Thang Long Citadel, villages, vocational city , ancient village, the old quarter, Viet Phu Thanh Chuong, Phat Tich pagoda, Ninh Binh visit, Ha Long Bay tour, Red River tour-the suburbs of Hanoi along the Red River (Hanoitourist Company) , "Search Tips of Ly dynasty" explores the historical land (Vietnam MICE Services Company ...)

Be anxious when the campaign ends

Based on the actual situation, the target of 2010 of Vietnam's tourism industry is not easy to implement. As forecast, the price of tourism services will tend to rise after the "Vietnam Impression" ends at the end of this March. In contrast, some countries who is great on tourism including regional countries such as Thailand, Singapore, China, Laos, Cambodia ... continue to decline its price, use promotions to attract tourists.

According to the VNAT, in 2010, the national tourism industry will get about 4.5 to 4.6 million international passengers, up from 18 to 21% compared to 2009. The number of domestic passenger in 2010 will reach about 28 million visitors; tourism revenue reaches $ 4 billion to 4.5 billion, bringing the total tourism product in 2010 accounted for 5.3% of GDP.

Although it is implemented rapidly some solutions for 2009 such as visa exemption, VAT deduction…, these are executed in the stimulus campaign. Therefore, before the campaign ends, to seize the opportunity to create momentum for domestic tourism, the tourism industry is urgently improve facilities, internationalization, diversification for tourism products.
In 2010, along with the country, Hai Phong tourism is facing a great opportunity to celebrate the exciting festivals of national holidays.
However, to grasp this opportunity, the travel of the city will face a major challenge of change, diversification and increase the attractiveness of different types of tourism products while upgrading quality services, towards further professionalization.

Worries about the drop in domestic tourism in the small range for the coastal city in the famous tourism area known as Do Son and Cat Ba will last because of the seasonal nature of tourism activities in Haiphong. Besides, competitiveness of the cities with the big festivals such as Hanoi, Hue, Da Nang, Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh also creates pressure on the risk of tourist loss in Haiphong.
